Terrell J. Starr

Our newest fellow is Terrell Jermaine Starr, the creator and host of Black Diplomats, a weekly podcast on global affairs and foreign policy focusing on the opinions, experiences, and expertise of people of color.

This fellowship will support the creation of a five-part podcast series, A Black Man's Guide To Iran, which will take listeners on a journey to better understand Iran and U.S. foreign policy. 

Starr is a former Fulbright grantee and a nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council's Eurasia Center. He was in Kyiv when the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in 2022, and his live, on-the-ground video stories for CNN, MSNBC, and Al Jazeera, introduced his work to millions of people around the globe. 

"Working with Outrider these past few years has been a privilege," Starr said. "I'm grateful for their support and can't wait to share these Iran stories with the world."

Starr is the third journalist to be named to Outrider's fellowship program after its inaugural launch with Bloomberg Green in 2022 and another with Science Friday earlier this year.
