Thalia Juarez

Photojournalist, Guardian US

Thalia Juarez (she/her) is a photojournalist and visual storyteller. She joined the Guardian as a Photo Editor in 2022 while freelancing, covering a diverse range of stories related to social issues and human rights.

She was drawn to the Guardian for its world-leading coverage of the climate crisis, and she has contributed photography to series such as "Unequal Earth" and "America's Dirty Divide," which examine the country's vast environmental inequalities. Her most recent project is a visually driven story about how climate change uniquely impacts the health and livelihood of female migrant workers in Maryland, showcasing her dedication to telling visually compelling climate stories.

Thalia's work has been published in The Guardian, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The San Francisco Chronicle, and The Baltimore Sun, among others.

Thalia has been selected as the Guardian's first Outrider photojournalism fellow. Over the next year, she will be paired with visual editors, reporters, and editors across the newsrooms to contribute visuals to environmental and climate change stories and execute standalone photo documentary projects. Her particular interest lies in climate stories intersecting with labor issues and migration.
